Our Mission

Gannondale, a ministry of the Sisters of Our Lady of Charity, provides holistic and therapeutic residential care for young women placed by the courts.

At Gannondale, we believe in empowering young women to realize their intrinsic worth. We provide a safe, non-threatening environment, where the diversity of young women is accepted and their cultures, traditions and heritages are honored. We celebrate God given talents and potential and we respond to each individual’s unique treatment needs.

We provide gender specific programming and follow the Sanctuary Model for Trauma Informed Care. Through mentoring by example, we encourage accountability, increase competencies, instill life skills, teach ownership and personal responsibility, and improve familial relationships so that a return to the family and community is possible. We inspire goal setting and the confidence to achieve future success and stability.

Gannondale was established in 1934 to meet the needs of adolescent females who were experiencing behavioral, emotional and family difficulties that precluded their remaining in the community.

Owned by the North American Union of the Sisters of Our Lady of Charity, this 70 acre campus program is located on the outskirts of Erie, Pennsylvania, and provides a naturally therapeutic setting.

Gannondale serves females aged 11-18 who are adjudicated delinquent and/or dependent. Professional staff offer group and individual counseling, and provide 24 hour supervision.
