The value of Shared Governance is to create an environment where the milieu is the treatment with everyone participating
to create and model civic skills of self-control, self-discipline, and the administration of healthy authority. Our trauma-informed goal then is the development of social and political skills in administration, staff and residents.
There was a "Thought of the Day" which was shared with the Gannondale community each morning in February. The purpose of this is to keep staff and residents continuously thinking about the concept of Shared Governance.
For example:
"Everyone wants to be powerful - after all, what is the choice other than being powerless? But power can be expressed in ways that create, and in ways that destroy.”
